WeNatal Review
A real, well-regarded prenatal brand with a distinctive his-and-hers formula, third-party testing, and strong (if mostly on-site) reviews — but premium pricing and a first-purchase-only refund policy.

Twisted Lily is a US online retailer of niche, indie and luxury perfume. It started as a physical shop. In September 2013 it opened as a small “fragrance boutique and apothecary” at 360 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill, and fragrance trade sites covered the launch. Time Out’s listing described the shop as a brick-and-mortar extension of Parfum1, an online perfume store founded in 2001 by two fragrance-industry veterans. That link probably explains why Twisted Lily’s product pages say the company has been “in business for over 20 years,” while its About page dates the Twisted Lily name to 2013. BBB lists a business start date of August 13, 2012.
The Brooklyn store is gone. As of September 2026, the About page and the site footer both say the boutique has closed and that the business is “fully available online.” Orders ship from a fulfillment center in New Jersey. The site runs on Shopify and has a loyalty program, a blog and its own curated sample sets.
In its marketing, Twisted Lily calls itself “the ultimate playground for fragrance aficionados” and says “authenticity rules.” Every product page ends with the same authenticity statement. It says all products are 100% authentic and brand new, that the company does not sell fakes, replicas or used goods, and that it sources “directly from the Perfumer Houses we represent.” The statement also calls Twisted Lily the “Official North America distributor of the brands we carry.” That is a broad claim. Several of the houses it stocks are large brands with their own US distribution, and we found no independent source confirming that Twisted Lily distributes all of them. The authenticity promise is backed by a long track record and no credible counterfeit reports that we could find. The distributor wording is best read as marketing.
For you, the practical point is this: Twisted Lily is a real, established perfume retailer. Most of the risk is not whether you get a genuine bottle. It is what happens if you do not like the bottle you get.
Twisted Lily sells fragrance first, with a smaller home and body section. As of September 2026, the store’s A-Z brand page lists about 50 entries. A few of those are the store’s own labels (“Curated by Twisted,” “Twisted Lily” and “Twisted Talent”). The rest are outside perfume houses, including:
The catalog runs from about $34 travel sprays to four-figure bottles. The home page, as of September 2026, featured Roja Parfums Diaghilev at $1,100 next to a $52 sample pack.
Samples and discovery sets are the other half of the business, and probably the best reason to use Twisted Lily. You can buy single samples of many fragrances, brand discovery kits, and sets the store puts together itself. According to its FAQ:
That last point matters. At least two negative Trustpilot reviews complain about paying for what looked like a spray vial and receiving a dab-on dipper or a squeeze pack. The FAQ does disclose this, but you have to go looking for it. If format matters to you, assume a branded sample could arrive in any of those forms.
The FAQ also says each sample or discovery set order comes with a thank-you card code for a discount on a full-size bottle, valid for 60 days. A product page says the store emails a coupon toward a full-size purchase. Either way, the store is set up to let you sample cheaply and then buy the full bottle from them.
Other products include travel sizes, the store’s “I Smell Good” refillable travel atomizer, gift sets, candles and home fragrance, body products, and gift cards from $25 to $300.
Payment options listed in the FAQ are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal and Shop Pay. Shop Pay Installments, provided by Affirm, splits orders between $50 and $3,000 into four payments.
Twisted Lily generally charges standard retail prices for full bottles, so the savings come from sampling, the loyalty program and occasional promotions, not from lower bottle prices. The table below shows prices from the store’s live product pages as of September 2026. Prices and stock change often, and a few items (including the Best Sellers Sample Pack and the 200 ml Baccarat Rouge 540) were listed as backordered when we checked.
| Item (as of September 2026) | Size | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single samples (examples: 003 French Yuzu, Chemin d’Amande Extrait, Choco Loco, Athénaïs) | 1-2 ml | $5-$10 |
| Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 sample | Sample | $9 |
| Twisted Lily x After Hours (house-curated set) | 5 x 2 ml | $35 |
| Twisted Lily Best Sellers Sample Pack | 12 samples | $52 |
| Etat Libre d’Orange The Ultimate Discovery Kit | 20 x 2 ml | $55 |
| Ex Nihilo Iconique Discovery Set | 6 x 2 ml | $55 |
| Juliette Has A Gun Purple Trouble | 7.5 ml / 50 ml / 100 ml | $34 / $115 / $150 |
| Giardini di Toscana Bianco Latte | 100 ml | $170 |
| Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP | 35 ml / 70 ml / 200 ml | $230 / $360 / $715 |
| Roja Parfums Diaghilev | 100 ml | $1,100 |
Shipping costs (from the published shipping policy, as of September 2026):
Remember those fees when you buy samples. A $6 sample on its own costs $14.50 once you add the $8.50 minimum shipping charge. Sampling works best when you batch several vials into one order or add them to a full-bottle purchase that clears $150.
Discounts and rewards. The FAQ describes a welcome discount of 10% off one order, sent as a unique code when you sign up for the newsletter or SMS list. It is valid for 60 days and can be used once. The store also runs gift-with-purchase offers at set spend levels. The “Lily List” loyalty program gives 5 points per $1 spent, and 500 points converts to a $5 voucher. That works out to about 5% back, capped at $15 (1,500 points) per order, and points expire 12 months after your last purchase. Promo codes cannot be used on the store’s curated sample packs or custom bundles. We do not list individual codes here, because the store issues unique codes rather than public ones.
Independent review volume is small for a business this old. Here is where things stand as of September 2026. The profiles below are small and mostly describe individual orders, so treat them as tendencies, not measurements.
Trustpilot: The Twisted Lily Trustpilot profile shows a TrustScore of 2.4 out of 5 from 15 reviews. That is limited review volume as of September 2026. The profile is unclaimed, so the company does not reply there. Just over half of the reviews are 1-star, and about a third are 5-star. Only one review was posted in the past 12 months. Positive reviews mention the wide niche selection, authentic products, reasonable prices and quick delivery. Negative reviews cluster around:
BBB: The BBB profile lists Twisted Lily as an online retailer in Brooklyn with an A+ rating. The business is not BBB accredited. As of September 2026, BBB shows two complaints in the last three years, one about a product issue and one about delivery. Both are marked “Answered,” which means the business responded but the customer did not confirm the issue was resolved. The product complaint shows the return policy in action. A customer returned an opened bottle, said it was defective, and got partial store credit instead of a refund. The company replied that it followed its posted policy for opened items and that its own check found nothing wrong with the fragrance. Whoever you believe, the takeaway is the same: once a bottle is opened, expect store credit, not cash.
Yelp and the old boutique: The Brooklyn shop’s Yelp page, now marked closed, has 64 reviews. Those reviews mostly describe in-store visits, and the recurring praise is for staff knowledge and selection. That speaks to the company’s history more than to how its online orders go today.
Reddit: We did not find enough verifiable discussion on fragrance subreddits to summarize. Our conclusions here rely on Trustpilot, BBB and the store’s own published policies.
On-site reviews: Twisted Lily shows its own product reviews through an app, for example 212 reviews on the Baccarat Rouge 540 page and 93 on the Best Sellers Sample Pack. The store controls these and pays out 200 loyalty points for each review. They are useful for scent opinions, but they are not an independent view of the company.
Putting it together, independent complaints are few and do not suggest a scam. They do point to the same friction every time: sample formats, damage claims and a return policy built to protect the store.
Twisted Lily is legitimate. It has operated under the same name since the early 2010s, had a well-covered physical store for years, and has a clean BBB record. It publishes detailed shipping and refund policies and sells well-known niche brands at normal retail prices. Checkout goes through Shopify with mainstream payment options, including PayPal and Shop Pay. PayPal and major credit cards give you buyer protection if an order never shows up.
The part to read carefully is the refund policy. As of September 2026, it says:
The shipping policy is also strict about order changes. You can cancel within 30 minutes of ordering or before the order is fulfilled, whichever comes first. You cannot edit an order or change the address once you place it. Orders over $150 require a signature and cannot go to PO boxes.
None of this is unusual for a fragrance retailer, since perfume is hard to resell once opened. But the terms leave the risk with you. To stay safe, sample before you buy a full bottle, film yourself opening any expensive package, check the address before you pay, and report damage the same day.
Twisted Lily is a genuine niche perfume shop with more than a decade of history, a broad list of niche and luxury houses, and an easy sampling setup. Single samples run about $5-$10, and discovery sets run $35-$55 as of September 2026. Its BBB record is clean, and we found no credible evidence that it sells anything but authentic stock.
We rate it 3.5 out of 5: good, with reservations. Three things hold it back. The return policy turns any opened bottle into store credit at best. Sample formats are not guaranteed. And the little independent feedback that exists, including a 2.4-out-of-5 Trustpilot score from 15 reviews, keeps coming back to fulfillment and refund friction.
The best way to use Twisted Lily is the way its catalog is built. Order samples or a discovery set first, bundle them to reduce shipping, and buy the full bottle only once you know you like it. Use the sample-order coupon or the 10% welcome offer, and aim for the $150 free-shipping line. If you like to blind-buy expensive fragrances and return the misses, a retailer with a looser return policy will suit you better.
Yes. Twisted Lily is a real fragrance retailer, not a pop-up storefront. It opened as a boutique at 360 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn in 2013. That store has since closed, but the online shop still runs and ships from a fulfillment center in New Jersey. BBB lists the business as started in August 2012, gives it an A+ rating (it is not BBB accredited), and shows two complaints in the last three years, both answered. The company says every product is 100% authentic and sourced directly from the perfume houses. We found no credible reports of counterfeit stock. The weak spots are its return policy and a small, mostly negative Trustpilot profile, not whether it is a real business.
Only for store credit, and possibly not the full amount. As of September 2026, the refund policy gives you 14 days from the fulfillment date. A full refund requires the item to be unopened and unused, with the cellophane intact. Anything returned in another condition is inspected, and if approved, refunded as store credit valued on the item's condition. A restocking fee may apply. A $15 flat return shipping fee applies unless the item was faulty or incorrect, and the shipping you paid on the original order is not refunded.
The FAQ says samples range from 1 ml to 2 ml. Twisted Lily's own decants are 2.5 ml glass spray vials filled to 2 ml and packed in a branded box. Branded samples from the perfume houses can come as dippers, spray atomizers or fragrance pods, and the FAQ says the vial pictured on the site is not representative of what you will receive. Individual samples, sample packs and discovery kits are all final sale. As of September 2026, single samples we checked cost $5 to $10.
As of September 2026, US standard shipping is $8.50 on orders under $50, $10 on orders from $50 to $150, and free from $150. Standard delivery is 5-7 business days in the continental US. Expedited shipping is $20 for 2-4 business days, not counting processing time of up to 72 hours. Canada is $35, or free from $250. Other international orders ship by UPS for $55, or free from $500, with duties and taxes collected at checkout.
No. Twisted Lily's own site says the Brooklyn boutique has closed and the business now operates online. The site also says gift cards from the former store were no longer accepted after December 31, 2021. Orders now ship from a fulfillment center in New Jersey.
